Immersive Interactive Installation Art
2024.04 - 2024.06
Solitude is a constant presence throughout our lives. As international students, we shared the experience of relocating to foreign countries in pursuit of varied goals, causing our notion of "home" to blur. Our sense of belonging evolves as we mature and live in various places. Intriguingly, despite vast cultural differences, we universally find a sense of belonging in nature.
The changing seasons are depicted using a poetic approach to create an immersive experience. Participants engage with this transformation through visuals, sounds, and tactile elements, enhancing their connection to the natural world.
Touch the branches; Hear the nature; Feel the seasons.
The interaction is conducted on the tree utilizing capacitive sensing technology. Every time the participant touches the tree, a sound will be randomly triggered, and can be heard together with the background music. All the sounds are made using Ableton, while each triggered sound is inspired by the associated elements of each season.
The essence of our belonging subtly shifts, yet remains tethered to the earth beneath our feet.
